A LITTLE ABOUT US

We aren't the biggest custom motorcycle leather maker by a longshot, but our experience, service and quality has been sought by some of the giants in motorcycle and snowmobiling sport. As race people ourselves, with over fifty years of combined riding and racing experience, we know and understand the importance of quality leathers. This is a commitment we take seriously and we strive to provide the best product at the lowest price possible.

Our leathers are constructed of the best top-grain cowhide available. It is 1.1-1.3mm thickness but still retains the suppleness and flexibility needed for comfort while riding. We use only heavy-duty YKK brass zippers to help insure consistent, smooth action and security. Pad leather of 3mm+/- thickness is glued in behind our heavy-duty nylon double-stitched seams in critical impact areas to further protect the rider and prevent seam failure. Since all of our garments are custom-made to customer measurements, a wide variety of impact or abrasion padding and/or ventilation options, as well as designs and artwork are available to suit all levels of budget and preference. Oh, and by the way, since the same two people who answer the phone also make your suit, you never get the run around and can be directly in touch with us as your suit is built.

As a representative of your racing sponsors, a good appearance is part of your job, and if you don't have sponsors, you've got to look good to attract them. We can help with great artwork and logos. Our leather artwork is unsurpassed and is a specialty that we take great care with and pride in.

When we first began, we devoted ourselves to roadracing and snowmobiling, and produced suits for some of the nation's top Superbike riders and teams. Some of them include Daytona 200 winner David Sadowski, multi-time multi-class AMA champion Randy Renfrow, Superbike stars Mike Smith, Tom Kipp and Mike Hale, Commonwealth Racing and others. More recently our focus has shifted to drag racing, and we have been pleased to provide suits for such notables as Pro Fuel champion Tony Mattioli, American fuel legend Bill Furr, and NHRA Pro-Stock riders Ron and Brian Ayers. These riders have the experience and knowledge to recognize and appreciate superior quality and we are proud they chose Advanced Design.

Not a racer? That's OK as we also produce some of the most excellent street and touring leathers around. Custom leathers means you can get exactly what you want just the way you want it. We can make a touring suit or jacket to fit your particular needs in almost any design or color you want. Good leathers are as important on the street as they are at the track.

We service what we sell, and offer a complete line of cleaning, conditioning, and protective products and services. We can clean and repair your suit to put a little life back into it. Since leathers for any use are a big investment, proper care and maintenance is just as important as changing your bike's oil.

Thanks for visiting our site and for taking the time to learn a little about us and what we do. We aren't a huge, faceless corporation like so many others. We are a mom and pop shop who care about what we do and our customers. For us, motorcycling is more than just a business or a hobby. It has been, and continues to be, our main focus. We are very glad to speak with you directly about any questions you have, and hope you'll choose Advanced Design for your leathers. Feel free to call us at 207-474-0801 to answer your questions.
